Escape pickpockets with a hidden money belt

Hidden Money Belt

Pickpockets can be a real nuisance and have the potential to really ruin your trip. However, there is a really simple solution to outsmart them; that is to keep your money, passport and valuables in a hidden money belt.

Barcelona has several locations that are terrible for pickpocketing and other petty crime. But however petty it may be, it is always a real drag for anyone who experiences it.

A couple of years ago some friends landed in Madrid, planning on taking the train to Barcelona. While queuing for their train tickets they suddenly realised they were short of the bag that contained their cash and credit cards – they had nothing else.

Luckily I was able to cable them money and they didn’t lose their passports -  but the experience was extremely traumatic for them all the same.

They could have avoided most of the trauma if they had used a money belt, although they would still have lost the bag; Tiso.com has a variety of money belts available, including a belt bank money belt, which looks just like a normal leather belt, only it has a zippered compartment on the inside to hide your money.

They also have money wallets that are worn beneath your clothing, which have the advantage of being much larger and able to carry your passport – the belt bank money belt simply isn’t large enough for this.

Check out the range of money belts from Tiso.com
