Tamudo hat-trick saves Espanyol saved from relegation

Raul Tamudo scored his first ever hat trick in Espanyol’s 3-0 defeat of Malaga on Sunday, securing their place in the Spanish League’s top division.

A shaky start to the season meant that until relatively recently it looked as if Espanyol would be joining the second division, but a turnaround towards the end of the season brought them off the bottom. However, it all came down to the final week of the Spanish League to know for sure – in their place go Betis, Numancia and Recreativo de Huelva.
