Espanyol’s first victory at the Nou Camp in 27 years

RCD Espanyol’s defeat of FC Barcelona last Saturday was the first time they’d beaten the big local rival at the Camp Nou in 27 years, and put an end to Barça’s 22 match unbeaten record.

Barcelona’s second club is really feeling the heat this year as they went into the weekend at the very bottom of the table, playing the league leader – very much a case of David and Goliath.

Barcelona didn’t play to their normal high standard and went down one man in the first half, when Keita was shown the red card. Despite trying to put the pressure on it just didn’t happen and instead Ivan de la Peña made the match Espanyol’s with goals in the 50th and 54th minutes and sealing three points for the visiting team.
