Copa del Rey – the first of three trophies for Barça?
After FC Barcelona’s last minute knockout of Chelsea in the Champions League semi-final, the Catalan team currently stands a chance of winning the treble – La Liga, Champions League and the Copa del Rey.
While the are likely to claim the Spanish league title next weekend – all they need is a draw, no matter what Real Madrid does – the Champions League title against Manchester Uniter is certainly an unknown, but they mount their challenge on the three titles tonight in Valencia, with the final of the Copa del Rey against Athletic de Bilbao.
Barcelona has won the cup more times than any other team, but Athletic are no pushover, despite the fact they are ending the season half way down the table.
If Barça does win tonight, the city will go crazy – there were crowds in Plaça Catalunya on Saturday night waiting to celebrate the league victory that is currently on hold, but still the air is of triumph. Catalan flags and the blaugrana colours of FC Barcelona are everywhere, as the city waits to celebrate.
