Barcelona Marathon 2009
This year’s Barcelona Marathon will take place this Sunday (1st March), when runners from around the world line up to pound the 42 kilometre circuit through some of Barcelona most famous streets.
The marathon starts and finishes at Plaça Espanya and follows a circuit that passes the Nou Camp, Casa Batllo and La Pedrera, Sagrada Familia, Torre Agbar, the Forum, Port Olimpic, Arc de Trionf, Plaça Catalunya and the Ramblas.
If you’re in the city centre on Sunday morning you should have plenty of opportunity to watch, however driving is likely to be a nightmare, with many of the streets involved barred to traffic.
There will also be other entertainment at various points along the route of the marathon, with music, food and dance among the principal activities.
