Review: Nou American Soda
I had seen this restaurant a few times, with a sign outside announcing a bacon and egg breakfast. However, the one time I did go for it was a lunchtime and the sign outside had gone – and I didn’t like been hassled by a waitress when looking at the menu outside and deciding whether to go in or not.
However, this time was different, I’d made a fairly early start into town to pick up my resident’s permit, and to celebrate the fact decided once more to go for my breakfast.
On entering the place, which is on the corner of Las Ramblas and Carrer de Sant Pau, I noticed that although the restaurant dates from 1902, the yellow walls seemed to be a fake distressed plaster, the kind of thing you find in England in many “faked” pubs. It is clean though and service was fairly prompt. The breakfast arrived, consisting of two eggs, three slices of bacon, a tomato, two slices of toast, coffee and half a litre of orange juice. One of the eggs was slightly overcooked, but it all went down well and my table had a good view of Las Ramblas.
Total price was €10.37 – not bad considering the location.
Las Ramblas, Carrer de Sant Pau.
