Finding unbiased Barcelona Hotel Reviews

So you know that you want to stay in Barcelona and you’ve weighed everything up and decided that, for you, a hotel is the best option. So where do you go from there?

Barcelona Hotels

Clearly, you will have two major initial considerations – location and quality – and hopefully you will have found this Barcelona Travel and Tourism guide useful in helping you arrive at your conclusions.

However, there are hundreds of hotels in the city and, whilst we will continue to build up the Hotel reviews on this site, it is simply impossible to include information about all of them. So where do you go?

Let’s face it, the choice of hotel is, for many people, one of the most important decisions with regard to the stay in the city. If you get it wrong, the stay will be nowhere near as enjoyable.

Obviously many of us begin with the internet and ‘google’ our way around. But be careful. Hotel web sites can be quite economical with the truth – they are vying for our custom after all. Once you have decided on your general location and price range, then the websites of hotels must be visited – but only to give a more general impression of what the hotel can offer in terms of facilities and services, etc. Always take the hotel’s own comments with a very large ‘pinch of salt’.

It is vital, once you have a few possibilities for your stay, of finding some independent idea of the hotels and, thankfully, there are now a number of superb web sites offering Barcelona hotel reviews that can provide all the information a prospective visitor could ever need.

The best known of these independent sites is undoubtedly Tripadvisor, a consumer generated web site that is completely free to use, collecting its income through advertising. Anyone can post a review of a hotel on Tripadvisor – and many people do. One of its strengths is that it doesn’t just attract guests with a grievance to share, but also has many positive comments. Comments are also listed in chronological order, with the most recent at the head of the list – something that can give a great sense of the material being bang up-to-date.

Whilst researching for this article, the Tripadvisor site for Barcelona listed 390 separate hotels – detailing them in popularity according to the reviews submitted by contributors. Its leading hotel, incidentally, turned out to be Hotel Montecarlo on La Rambla. The four star hotel had been reviewed 341 times at the time of writing.

There are numerous other web sites that offer similar services – comprehensive directories of hotels, coupled with independent reviews. Interesting information can often be found on Travel Library and, although Yahoo Travel has comparatively few hotels reviewed, it does have the benefit of a truly detailed map with the locations of hotels specifically pinpointed.

Armed with the information that you can acquire from these invaluable sites, you can be as confident as it’s possible to be that you have chosen a hotel that will fit your own specific requirements.
