Because the centre of the city is both conveniently close and accessible quite cheaply by bus, train and taxi, the Barcelona Airport hotels tend to cater mainly for business travellers or people who have long stop-overs between connecting flights.

Foremost amongst the hotels close to the airport is probably the Renaissance Hotel, Barcelona Airport, a Marriott Hotel, just 4 minutes away from the terminal buildings. With a stated 80% of its guests staying for business purposes, there are obviously many facilities aimed at this clientèle, with good internet access and a business suite – in addition to conference rooms of various sizes. Other guests are not forgotten, however. There is an outdoor swimming pool during the summer months, a gym, the La Salle Restaurant and an attractive bar, the Alabaha, with cocktails and, occasionally, piano music. Those people looking to use up their Marriott Rewards Points and then travel into Barcelona will find this a convenient, well-appointed place to do so!

The 4 Star Best Western Alfa Hotel is situated just 1.5 miles from the airport at Zona Franca and was extensively refurbished as recently as 2007. This 99 room hotel is more geared up for families, offering, amongst other things, a baby sitting service for guests. Additionally, there is a swimming pool, sauna, tennis court and an excellent restaurant, Gran Mercat. As with the Renaissance Hotel, there is a complimentary bus service between the hotel and the airport for the convenience of guests.

Another 4 star hotel is the recently built Ciutat del Prat Hotel, a mere 500 metres from the airport. With a swimming pool, sauna, gym and jacuzzi there is plenty to keep guests occupied and a restaurant which has a growing reputation, as well as offering an excellent value breakfast for 12 euros. Rooms all have satellite television and internet access.

The HLG Airprat Hotel, built in 2005, is a 260 room 2 star hotel just 1 kilometre south of the airport. It has a restaurant, swimming pool, sauna, gym and paddle tennis court as well as being fully equipped to cater for business guests.

Finally, the Tryp Barcelona Airport Hotel, just 5 minutes away from the terminal, is a 4 Star hotel with 159 well-appointed bedrooms which, although it does have a small gym, caters mainly for business guests.
