The Aerobus – direct Barcelona Airport Bus service
The Barcelona Airport Bus, the A1 Aerobus, is a direct, economical and straightforward way of getting from Barcelona’s main El Prat airport into the centre of the city. This express bus service can be easily boarded, outside all three of the terminals at the airport, and will transport you into the heart of the action in about 30 minutes; although, at busy times, it might take slightly longer. For anyone staying near the middle of the town, the most convenient journey would probably be to take the Aerobus and then either walk or take a taxi to your hotel.
The service usually runs between the hours of 6 am and 1 am from the airport to Plaça Catalunya; from 5.30 to 00.15 the other way. Buses run at a minimum of one every 15 minutes – although at peak times you will find there is one every 6 minutes. In addition to the main stops at Plaça Espanya and Plaça Catalunya, there are also stops at Estació Sants, Gran Via/Urgell, Plaça de Universitat, and Passeig de Gràcia.
The current cost of a single journey is 4.25 euros, with a return at 7.30 euros. If you have a Barcelona Card, you will receive a 20% discount on your fare. You can buy tickets on the bus itself, although there are now ticket machines at the airport bus stops to enable you to purchase them in advance.
These specifically designed buses have plenty of luggage space and are also suitable for passengers with wheelchairs or pushchairs.
With such easy accessibility, frequency and reliability of service and sensible pricing, it is no wonder that more and more people are choosing the Barcelona Airport Bus for airport transfer to the city centre.
