Direct Barcelona flights from Ryanair on the cards?
Ryanair is preparing to begin operations from Barcelona airport in the spring, according to a report that appeared in Catalan daily Avui last Thursday.
The low-frills airline, infamous for its creative pricing practices, currently operates out of Girona-Costa Brava and Reus Airports, rather cheekily adding a Barcelona suffix on their website.
Although not confirmed by Ryanair, the story may make sense; the recent opening of Terminal 1 means there is plenty of spare capacity in T2 and while the article states that Ryanair will be offered the same rate as other airlines by AENA, the Spanish airport authority, it may be that the rates in T2 have fallen anyway.
Ryanair has until February to make a decision one way on another in time to commence flights at the end of March.
