Barcelona Airport Transfers
There are several ways in which you can get a Barcelona Airport transfer, but let’s look at the most expensive first. There are several companies that specialise in private transfers from the airport – either into the city or to the cruise terminal. The typical cost for this, for two people, can range from between 70 and 90 euros. This has the obvious advantage of picking you up at the terminal building and taking you, in comfort, all the way to your hotel reception, cruise ship berth or whatever. It’s certainly a stress-free way of beginning your time in Barcelona.
Taking a taxi is also a very convenient method of reaching the city. There are several taxi ranks outside the terminal buildings and you’ll never have to wait for very long for one of the distinctive black and yellow cabs to pick you up. The average price for a journey to the centre is about 25 euros and any additional charges you might incur – for numbers of bags, people, etc – will be displayed inside the taxi.
The Aerobus from the terminals to Barcelona is an excellent service, costing just 4.25 euros for a single journey or 7.30 euros for a return ticket. These specially designed buses – with plenty of luggage space and easy wheelchair access – run at regular intervals all through the day and can be easily boarded directly outside each of the three terminals. They can transport you right into the heart of Plaça Catalunya.
The station for the RENFE train, which takes about 25 minutes to take you into the city, is a 5 minute walk from the terminal buildings – but much of that is on a ‘moving pavement’. Allowing you to get off at Estacio de Franca, Passeig de Gracia or Barcelona Sants (the latter two serviced by the Metro) and priced at just 2.80 euros, this is a very simple way of arranging your airport transfer and if you buy a buy a Barcelona Card you’ll be entitled to free travel on the RENFE train from the airport into the city!
