Barcelona Airport new terminal T1 set to open this week

Barcelona Airport’s long awaited new terminal, T1, is set to open on Wednesday 17th June with 19 airlines moving their operations there.
The 19 airlines include Spanair, Lufthansa, TAP Portugal, Swiss, SAS Scandinavian Airlines, US Airways, Egyptair and Singapore Airlines, but if you are travelling from Barcelona or collecting someone from the airport it is especially important to confirm the terminal beforehand as T1 is located some distance from the existing terminals, to be re-designated T2.
With the disastrous openings in Madrid and Heathrow airports in recent years, it remains to be seen whether Barcelona Airport can successfully navigate though the transition without lost luggage, missed flights and general travel misery.
