Airport Transfers from Reus to Barcelona

Reus airport is a direct entry point to the holiday resorts of the Costa Dorada but, in recent years, some low-cost airlines, notably Ryanair, have started flying passengers there who want to transfer to Barcelona.

Situated about 66 miles from the airport at Reus, Barcelona can be reached by car, bus or train.

Most travellers who arrive and want to transfer directly to Barcelona do so by bus, and this is probably the easiest and cheapest method. Organised by La Hispano Igualadina Company, and with a timetable linked to incoming and outgoing flights, this service picks up passengers directly outside the main doors of the Reus terminal and takes them directly to the Barcelona Sants station – which has excellent links with all the city’s transport systems. At the time of writing, the cost of this service is 12 euros for a one-way ticket or 21 euros for a return and the journey time is about 90 minutes.

Visitors who would prefer to make their own way to Barcelona by car will find Avis, Europcar, Hertz and Sol-Mar car rental companies at Reus airport. The drive is relatively straightforward – on the A7 (sometimes known as the E15) motorway for nearly all of the journey. There are a couple of things to bear in mid, though, if you are considering this kind of transfer. Firstly, the motorway is a toll road and you can expect to pay about 8 euros for the journey and secondly, if your hotel does not have free parking – and many do not – parking can be very expensive in the city of Barcelona itself. Add to this the difficulty of driving around the centre and you’ll understand why many travellers prefer not to hire a car themselves.

There are, of course, some companies who will provide you with a private airport transfer from Reus to Barcelona, such as Shuttle Direct, for example. They will meet you in the terminal building and take you and your luggage directly to your Barcelona hotel. Undoubtedly the most stress-free method, bear in mind that it is also by far the most expensive.

Although there is not a rail service from the airport itself, there is an excellent rail connection between the station in the centre of Reus and Barcelona Sants. There is a direct bus line from the airport to Reus Station, about 6 miles away. This service is run by Reus Transport – the yellow buses – and the tickets are 2 euros each. Alternatively, a taxi will cost about 15 euros.

The RENFE trains from Reus to Barcelona take about 90 minutes for the journey and the cost is usually either 6.20 or 7.05 euros, depending on the train. The timetable is available online at www.renfe.es and timetables are available in English.
